FALLOUT George. Paul. Forrie & Stu. Photo by David Cameron.
Many years ago when punk was everything for some of us who lived in Paisley Scotland. Where bands like Defiant Pose, Urban Enemies, XS Discharge and may more spurned on bands like Destroy, whose guitarist ended up in yet another of those inspired bands by the name of Fallout from Kilbarchan. While at one of their practice in the drummer Paul's bedroom one Saturday afternoon. I managed to record the band using a concoction of made up wires, plugs and cables all rooted into a tape deck. But sadly that tape ended up in the hands of the band too which I never saw or heard of since. Now more than 20 years on, it looks like the birth of the internet and twitter has brought this tape into the foreground. So hopefully in the very near future I'll be able to mp3 said tape and share that lost punk music with the world. I also remember the band did a proper studio demo before george joined the band. I think was recorded at Arch Studios in Glasgow and its another tape I would love to get my hands on if anyone has it. One of those Fallout tracks was Arms race.mp3 a track that would have been used along with Destroy track Government, Defiant Pose, Guns & Urban Enemies. Body in the park. All of which was set to be pressed into a 7" record called PISSING IN THE WIND, but sadly never happened. Defiant Pose. Guns : preview track Destroy. Government : preview track Fallout. Arms race.mp3 : preview track Urban Enemies. Body in the park : preview track Check out my Callum Reid, ex Defiant Pose drummer blog. Callum passed away last month and the old demos and practice tapes have been converted into MP3 as free downloads. If you have any photos or info you would like to add, post them in my Defiant Pose & Paisley Punk History yahoo group. |

If I'm not mistaken I built a wee box full of microphone inputs that had no impedance, grounding or shielding. We stuck in a bunch of what ever microphones we had and probably my two cool PZM microphones and plugged the box into a tape deck. And this is the recording we did in Paul Mcskimming the drummers bedroom one Saturday afternoon in Kilbarchan with Paul on drums, Stu on bass, George ex destroy guitarist on guitar and Forry on vocals / guitar?
